The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed both of Olumide Smith’s complaints against the Employment Appeals Tribunal as misconceived. The decision was dated 1 December 2021; the merits were not decided. Smith alleged that the tribunal refused his request to use a holy book, said it did not normally allow self-representation, and that its chairman spoke dismissively. He also objected to names disclosed in a decision letter. The WRC found that the tribunal’s adjudicative functions were protected by judicial immunity and were not a service under the Equal Status Act.
