The Workplace Relations Commission recommended a supported return-to-work plan for a customer assistant and department store after a dispute over management meetings and a grievance. The recommendation was dated 20 March 2017. The adjudicator found the store had not used informal engagement before sending meeting invitations and had considerably exceeded its grievance and appeal time limits. The store disputed that it had changed the assistant’s hours and said it wanted to support her return. Recommendations included occupational health support and counselling, a support contact for the first 12 months back, and restoring the assistant to payroll for 12 weeks of sick leave, with pay reduced by Department of Social Protection payments.
