The WRC found that an employer unlawfully deducted €3.11 a week from a worker’s wages and ordered repayment of all net amounts deducted from 4 January 2016. Adjudication Officer Jim O’Connell dated the decision 4 April 2017. The worker’s union said the employer’s change to its weekly pay calculation reduced the worker’s pay by €3.11 a week. The employer said it followed Citizens Information Board instructions and had made no unlawful deduction. The adjudicator found that the worker’s employment terms implied a 52-week salary calculation and that the deduction was made without consent.
