The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Genesis Psychotherapy & Family Therapy Service Limited to pay Nora Martin €90,000 for unfair dismissal, €6,227 for failure to provide minimum notice and €9,340.38 in unpaid wages. The decision is dated 7 January 2026.
The WRC accepted the charity needed to restructure because of funding pressures, but found the selection process was unfair and influenced by personal animus. It said there was little evidence of consultation, fair selection criteria or consideration of redeployment. The employer said it had abolished management roles and offered Martin the opportunity to apply for a new Senior Therapist role.
