The Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal and upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation concerning a worker at Acco Ireland. The decision was dated 24 June 1997. The union sought an acting-up allowance of £15 a day, saying the worker had deputised for a lead-hand in Goods Inward without receiving the allowance paid in another section. Acco Ireland argued that the worker had no additional duties warranting payment and that the allowance had been paid when appropriate. The Court found no grounds to change the recommendation and rejected the appeal.
