The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner's recommendation rejecting a worker's claim to have telephone rental payments restored, and rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's appeal. The decision was signed on 15 March 1995. The company had paid the electrical supervisor's telephone rental for about seven years. The union argued the payment was a condition of employment and that the company continued to benefit from the worker's phone. Dia Norm Teo said the payment was discretionary and pointed to an increase in the call-out fee.
