The Labour Court upheld Mandate’s appeal and increased compensation from £150 to £300 for a shop assistant unfairly dismissed by Jones Delicatessen (T/A Elim Glen Limited). In a decision signed on 15 March 1995, the Court also found an unreasonable delay in providing her with a reference. Mandate argued that the worker had been treated unfairly and that the original compensation was inadequate. The company said her performance was unsatisfactory and that it dismissed her after discussing the problems with her.
