In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Bus Eireann and the National Bus And Rail Union complete the agreed disciplinary and grievance procedures over a bus driver’s suspension. Its recommendation was dated 14 March 1995. The dispute followed the driver’s refusal to carry out an instruction to transport train passengers from Dundalk to Newry after a bomb scare. The union said he had been treated unfairly for union activity. Bus Eireann said the disciplinary process had followed agreed procedures and asked the Court to recommend that the one-week suspension be accepted. The Court recommended that the disciplinary issue proceed through the agreed procedures to a conclusion.
