In 1995, the Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal and upheld the Rights Commissioner’s £520 recommendation for a Carlow County Council worker. The decision was dated 20 February 1995. The dispute concerned the removal of the worker’s weekend supervisory overtime, which had reduced his gross earnings by £20 a week. The union sought his return to supervisory duties and compensation. The Council said the weekend work involved few hours and could be checked by an area engineer. The Court found no grounds to amend the recommendation.
