In 1994, the Labour Court recommended that Navan Urban District Council and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree an equitable system for recalling casual staff for the 1995 season. It also recommended favourable consideration for the claimant for any temporary work under the new system. The decision was signed on 7 December 1994. The dispute concerned a temporary seasonal worker who expected to be recalled in 1994 but was passed over for a more junior employee. The Council said it selected workers based on suitability and experience, and raised concerns about the claimant’s attendance and leave choices.
