In 1994, the Labour Court found a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation reasonable in a disciplinary dispute involving eight Coillte Teoranta workers, while recommending that their final warnings remain on file for two years. The decision was signed on 7 December 1994. Coillte had imposed a week’s suspension and a final written warning on each worker after discrepancies in tree-planting records. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued there was no proof that any particular worker was responsible and pointed to management’s handling of extra plants. Coillte said its investigation placed responsibility within the group, though it had no specific proof against an individual.
