In 1992, the Labour Court upheld a recommendation that a worker employed by Dundalk Urban District Council be paid the Town Overseer Rate while a housing scheme continued. The decision was dated 24 April 1992 and followed the Council’s appeal.
The worker, a foreman, had been appointed temporary clerk of works overseeing panel replacements in 500 houses. The Court’s decision was subject to the Council determining staff deployment on the scheme. The Union Of Construction, Allied Trades And Technicians had argued that the worker should continue in the role while the contracts were active.
