The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that Tara Meats Limited pay an initial £600 net to each of seven beef unloaders, with their losses to be reviewed after 12 months. The decision was signed on 11 May 1988. The Irish Transport And General Workers' Union and Tara Meats Limited had both appealed the recommendation. The dispute concerned losses expected after a change to Saturday unloading rates. The union sought more compensation and said three substitute unloaders would also lose earnings; the company cited changed supply patterns and offered £400 gross per worker. The Court decided the recommendation should stand.
