The Labour Court rejected the Federated Workers' Union of Ireland’s appeal on behalf of 12 workers at St. Augustine's School over compensation for lost earnings after weekend work was reduced. Its decision was signed on 8 April 1987. The union said weekend work was part of the workers’ conditions and management should compensate them for losses. Management said weekend cover was no longer needed and workers had been told they would not be paid for unrostered hours. The Rights Commissioner had recommended no compensation, and the Labour Court found no grounds to change that recommendation.
