The Labour Court dismissed the Irish Distributive and Administrative Trade Union’s appeal and left standing the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation on a sales assistant’s alleged unfair dismissal at Boylans Limited’s Dun Laoghaire branch. The decision was dated 13 February 1987. The union said the manager fired and escorted the worker from the shop, and sought an apology and compensation. Boylans Limited said she left after refusing a reasonable instruction. The Rights Commissioner found the union had not established that she was dismissed, citing a witness who supported the company’s account.
