The Labour Court upheld a worker’s appeal and replaced the Rights Commissioner’s €50 award with a €1,500 settlement. The decision was signed on 22 July 2010. Electraction Limited said the worker’s job ended because of a downturn in business and a genuine redundancy. The Court found the dismissal was due to genuine redundancy, but that Electraction had failed to pay one week’s notice, grant seven days’ paid annual leave and provide written terms. It awarded €1,500 in full and final settlement.
