The Labour Court rejected a worker’s appeal against the end of his Community Employment Scheme placement with Ballyfermot Community Network Group Limited and upheld the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation. The decision was signed on 22 July 2010. The worker said he expected a fourth year, which would have provided further training, and sought compensation for lost earnings. The employer said three years was the maximum on its project. The Court found it had no further obligation to extend his placement after three years. Where FÁS authorised an extension, participants could transfer to another project with the Network Group’s assistance.
