The Labour Court varied a recommendation about a worker’s future role at Abbott Ireland and upheld €500 compensation. Its decision was dated 2 November 2006. The worker had performed Process Services Operator and General Manufacturing Operator duties from October 2000 until Abbott returned him to full-time General Manufacturing Operator work in August 2005. The Court declined to recommend that he be automatically placed in a permanent day-shift Process Services Operator position. It recommended that, if a combined day-shift role became available, his significant service in that capacity should count to his advantage and he should have every opportunity to take the work.
