The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that Exel Meats (Kilbeggan) Limited pay an unnamed worker €800 gross for lost earnings after a delay in implementing a higher chargehand rate. The decision was dated 24 April 2006. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, had sought retrospective chargehand pay dating to 1993. Exel Meats argued it had not employed him before 2003 and had not agreed to backdate the higher rate. The Court dismissed the company's appeal, leaving the €800 recommendation in place.
