The Labour Court amended a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation on the union’s appeal, finding that Teagasc’s 2002 performance record failed to account for a worker’s maternity leave. The Court signed its decision on 19 October 2005. Teagasc had also failed to respond adequately or promptly to the worker’s grievances, the Court said. It directed the organisation to correct the record, provide her with a normal client list and give written assurance that the issues would not harm her career progression or training opportunities. The worker was a Rural Environment Protection Scheme Planner represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. Teagasc said it had treated her fairly, adjusted targets for absences and offered support and alternative clients.
