The Labour Court upheld a €700 recommendation for a worker who was owed seven days’ pay by Baltinglass Meats Ltd. The decision was signed on 12 August 2004. The worker appealed because the employer had not paid the recommended sum and he wanted the recommendation made binding. The Court found the employer had deducted the pay because he left without notice, but said an employer could not withhold money properly due for that reason. It also found the worker had less than 13 weeks’ service and was not required to give a week’s notice.
