Wilson and Crowley lose burglary conviction appeals

Alan Wilson and David Crowley had their burglary conviction appeals dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 5 November 2015.
The convictions arose from offences alleged at a house on Drumheath Drive, Blanchardstown, on 3 June 2009. Wilson received seven years for burglary, while Crowley received seven years for burglary and a concurrent eight years for possessing a firearm in circumstances giving rise to a reasonable inference that it was not held lawfully.
The appeals challenged, among other matters, the decision not to discharge the jury after Crowley offered a juror a light outside court. The court held that the complaints about the trial judge’s conduct were without merit.
