Alan Wilson's burglary appeal dismissed by Court of Appeal

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Alan Wilson had his burglary conviction appeal dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 5 November 2015. The offences arose at a house on Drumheath Drive, Blanchardstown, on 3 June 2009.

Wilson had been convicted of one burglary count and sentenced to seven years in prison at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The judgment records that he appealed on several grounds, including challenges concerning contact between an appellant and jurors, evidence and whether the house had been entered as trespassers.

The Court of Appeal held that the complaints about the trial judge's handling of the juror matter had no merit. The judgment also records that Wilson separately appealed the severity of his sentence.
