By Cathal Brosnan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Warren Farrell was convicted of careless driving causing death at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 18 December 2018. The offence involved the death of Elizabeth Core, who was struck by a marked patrol car on Fonthill Road South, Dublin, in 2014.

A jury returned a majority verdict after about four hours of deliberations. Farrell had denied dangerous driving causing death, but the jury was also permitted to consider the lesser careless-driving charge.

Judge Cormac Quinn remanded Farrell on continuing bail until 22 February for sentence.
