This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Timothy O’Driscoll failed in his appeal against a murder conviction at the Court of Criminal Appeal on 20 January 2014.

He was jailed for life in October 2011 by Mr Justice Paul Carney after a Central Criminal Court jury in Cork found him guilty of murdering Lee McCarthy at St Rita’s Avenue on 17 April 2010.

His lawyers argued he was provoked by Mr McCarthy’s claim about his father, while a key prosecution witness believed the claim was a joke. The proceedings were reported on 20 January 2014.
