Keith O’Hara’s murder conviction appeal rejected by court

By Ruairí Dolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Keith O’Hara’s appeal against his murder conviction was rejected by the Court of Appeal on 26 March 2026. The murder of Paul Jones took place at his home on Bandon Road, Cork.

The court rejected O’Hara’s arguments that DNA evidence had been unlawfully obtained and that evidence from search warrants should have been excluded. It held that the grounds for obtaining the DNA samples were sufficiently established and that the warrant applications did not have to be recorded.

O’Hara was convicted by a jury in December 2021 at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork and sentenced to life imprisonment. His co-accused Helen Jones also had her appeal rejected in June 2024.
