Thomas Kelly pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The proceedings were reported on 15 July 2022. The charge concerned transporting €10,000 at Casement Grove, Finglas, on 19 October 2019, to repay a drug debt. Garda Sean Kelly said the cash was found in a package beneath the driver’s seat, while Kelly told gardaí he had agreed to transport it to reduce a €700 drug debt. Gardaí agreed that Kelly’s explanation was plausible; his combined drug and gambling debts had previously reached €4,500, but wage repayments reduced the amount owed. Judge Orla Crowe adjourned sentencing to 17 November and ordered a probation report and urine analysis.
