Stewart Alexander and Bill Henry were held personally liable for Boxer Logistics Ltd’s €12.4 million debts by the High Court, in a decision reported on 27 February 2023.
The judgment followed an application by liquidators Tom Murray and Tom Musiol, appointed in March 2022 after the company entered liquidation. The report says the directors were alleged to have underdeclared income and underpaid corporation tax, PRSI and VAT.
The liquidators alleged that company money had been transferred to personal accounts and that the firm had improperly received €1.9 million through Covid support schemes. The court made the liability order on a joint and several basis; neither director was present or represented, and the report says there were no objections to the application.
