Sean FitzPatrick’s jury was discharged at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 2 June 2015 during his trial for allegedly making false statements to auditors and furnishing false information. The charges concerned alleged failures to disclose loans connected with Anglo Irish Bank.

Mr FitzPatrick had pleaded not guilty to 27 offences under the Companies Act 1990, including 21 alleged misleading, false or deceptive statements to auditors and six charges of furnishing false information between 2002 and 2007.

The jury heard no evidence after seven weeks of legal argument, and Judge Mary Ellen Ring set a new trial date for 5 October 2015. The report says the prosecution alleged that loan arrangements affected the amounts disclosed in the bank’s financial statements.
