Workplace rights claims brought by migrant chef Mohammad Usman Ghani against his former employer, Mirha & Aliha Ltd, trading as Daata Restaurant, were amicably resolved after talks, the Migrant Rights Council of Ireland said. The WRC did not resume its public hearings after the parties met on Thursday.
The claims were heard alongside evidence about a debit card and bank account in Ghani’s name. Adjudication officer Breiffni O’Neill said Ghani had testified that he was unaware of the card until he accessed the account with Garda assistance. The company’s barrister challenged his credibility, saying witnesses could testify that he had operated the card.
