Sean Doherty was sentenced to four years in prison for robbery at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 8 December 2022.

The robbery happened at the victim’s Dublin apartment after he invited Doherty home for drinks. Doherty hit him twice on the head with a vodka bottle and took his phone; the victim needed stitches.

The judge set an initial term of seven and a half years, citing Doherty’s previous convictions and the violence. He reduced it after considering the guilty plea, mental health issues, apology, drug dependency and troubled childhood. The four-year term was to run consecutively to a prison sentence he was already serving.
