Robyn Kilgallon had a €12m settlement approved by the High Court on 18 March 2020 after a negligence action over her care at Sligo General Hospital.
Robyn was brought to the hospital aged 10 months after developing symptoms including a high temperature, vomiting and a floppy body.
She was sent home but returned the following day, requiring intensive care before transfer to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
Doctors there diagnosed meningococcal meningitis, after which Robyn was left with severe brain injuries and complex medical needs.
The HSE admitted liability, and the settlement was reached through mediation before being approved by Mr Justice Kevin Cross.
