Nicole Chambers was jailed for 21 months by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on December 10, 2025, after pleading guilty to making a false criminal complaint. The proceedings were reported on December 10, 2025.

The complaint alleged that a prison officer escorting Chambers to hospital sexually assaulted her in a cubicle. Hospital CCTV showed the officer had not entered it, while his female colleague and medical staff confirmed he remained outside. Garda Andrew Harte said Chambers maintained her account even after being shown the CCTV; he agreed with Jennifer Jackson BL, defending, that she had done so despite the footage. Chambers later sought to retract her statement, citing her mental health and physical wellbeing, and wished to apologise to the officer and prison service.

Judge Martin Nolan described the allegation as “malicious and self-serving”. Defence counsel said Chambers had a complex psychiatric background, had been suicidal at the time, and had written a letter of apology. The defence also told the court that no suitable service or facility in Ireland was available to address her complex needs.
