Regency Hotel trial hears evidence on four feud shootings

By Ruairí Dolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

A senior garda gave evidence on four shootings linked to the Hutch-Kinahan feud at the Special Criminal Court, reported on 16 January 2023.

The evidence included the shooting of Patrick Hutch Junior in Dublin on 15 August 2014. His wound was described as serious but not life-threatening, and the investigation remained open.

Detective Superintendent David Gallagher said Hutch Junior did not cooperate with the investigation. Jonathan Dowdall had told the court that he was told Daniel Kinahan shot him; that account was hearsay, and the source also records a defence challenge to Dowdall’s account of the feud’s origins.

Gallagher also testified that Jamie Moore was shot in Estepona, Spain, on 3 August 2014, in a case investigators considered mistaken identity. The source describes Moore as seriously injured and hit twice.

The report said the murder of Eddie ‘Neddie’ Hutch remained an open investigation. It also reported that the court rejected a defence application to exclude CCTV footage associated with Paul Murphy from evidence.
