Colin O’Riordan testified at the Special Criminal Court on 19 October 2022 about the Regency Hotel shooting, describing how gunmen passed him during the attack.
He said he feared for his life and tried to make himself appear unthreatening as two men dressed as gardaí walked past him carrying weapons. The attack took place at the hotel on the Swords Road in Whitehall, Dublin, on 5 February 2016; David Byrne was shot dead there.
O’Riordan was giving evidence in Gerard ‘The Monk’ Hutch’s murder trial. Hutch had pleaded not guilty to murdering Byrne, and co-accused Paul Murphy and Jason Bonney had also pleaded not guilty to charges of participating in or contributing to the murder by providing access to motor vehicles.
