Rebecca Kavanagh received a three-and-a-half-year sentence, suspended entirely, for possessing cannabis at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 20 March 2023. Judge Dara Hayes imposed the sentence.

Kavanagh pleaded guilty to one count of possessing the drugs found at her family home in Santry, Dublin, on 14 April 2021. She told gardaí she was holding them to pay a drug debt, but continued dealing with the supplier after it was paid in exchange for cannabis for her own use. The court heard she was drug-free, attending counselling and back working as a financial analyst; the Probation Service assessed her as at low risk of reoffending.
