Powerteam Electrical Services Limited trading as Omexom lost its bid to keep an ESB contractor tender suspended in the High Court on 12 February 2016.

The court lifted the automatic suspension affecting contracts for overhead electricity-line building, repair, maintenance and upgrade work. Powerteam had challenged the procurement process, alleging breaches of procurement law, while the ESB opposed its application.

The judgment said the balance of convenience favoured the ESB because the work was of major public importance and any loss to Powerteam could be compensated financially.
