A Central Criminal Court jury failed to reach a verdict on Philip Cox’s attempted murder charge on 11 March 2024, after three days of deliberations.
Cox had pleaded not guilty to attempted murder following an attack on his former partner at York Street Flats in Dublin on 1 December 2022. He had pleaded guilty to assault causing harm, aggravated burglary and producing a knife during the same incident.
After seven hours and 33 minutes of deliberations, the jury told Mr Justice Paul McDermott it could not agree. The judge listed the case for mention on 22 March.
