A Dublin man was jailed for one year at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court after pleading guilty to sending a message of a menacing character by telephone to his former partner in November 2022. The proceedings were reported on 10 December 2025. Judge Martin Nolan directed that he receive credit for any time served on the matter.

The report said the man became aware of a serious allegation against him after his arrest in early November 2022. Defence counsel Colm Hennessy BL said he was very upset and under considerable stress, and that the “red mist descended”; the man accepted responsibility. Paul Carroll SC, prosecuting, said the related disclosure case was later withdrawn by the Director of Public Prosecutions following a clarification.
