Michael Geoghegan was jailed for three robberies at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 11 December 2020. He pleaded guilty. The proceedings were reported on 11 December 2020.

Geoghegan pleaded guilty to three counts of robbery and production of a knife at Rathbeale Road, Swords, on August 18th the previous year. He also admitted producing a large kitchen knife to intimidate, and producing an iron drill bit and knife while resisting arrest.

Judge Patricia Ryan imposed four years imprisonment and suspended the final year on strict conditions, including following all Probation Service directions for six months after release. Defence counsel said Geoghegan had struggled with drugs from his teens but had stayed off them since the robberies.

The court heard that he threatened a garda during his arrest and that Detective Garda Warren O’Sullivan described three women being robbed at about 9am. Geoghegan accepted he was shown on CCTV, while saying he could not remember the offending. He paid €2,500 to be divided among the civilian victims.
