Lateef Bello was admitted to the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum for two weeks after being found not guilty by reason of insanity of attempted murder earlier in 2015. The proceedings were reported on 2 March 2015.
He had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity at the Central Criminal Court in January. The attempted murder charge concerned Adejoke Opesusi at Littleplace on 19 February 2012. He was also found not guilty by reason of insanity of burglary, criminal damage, endangerment and assault causing harm.
Consultant forensic psychiatrist Dr Sally Lenihan told the court on 2 March 2015 that she had assessed Mr Bello on 10 February 2013. She said he suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and that his illness had led him to believe his wife was unfaithful and that he was dead.
Dr Lenihan said he required ongoing treatment because of the nature of his behaviour when untreated. She recommended admission to the Central Mental Hospital for no more than 14 days to assess whether he required further inpatient care.
