Mannix and Amy Coyne lose data centre planning challenge

By Eimear Byrne

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The High Court dismissed Mannix Coyne and his daughter Amy Coyne’s challenges to planning permission for a data centre, reported on 21 July 2023.

Mr Justice David Holland rejected all grounds in the two actions concerning the data centre and associated substation and grid connection works near Clonee, Co Meath. The Coynes had argued that the planning decisions breached constitutional and European rights, failed to assess environmental effects and did not comply with planning and environmental laws; respondents denied their claims. The court is to return the matter for final orders at a later date.
