Kerrie O'Byrne received a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence, suspended on strict conditions, for theft at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, where Judge Martin Nolan imposed sentence on 27 October 2022.

She pleaded guilty to over 30 counts of theft involving €34,250 taken from her former employer over several years. The money was used for personal items, including petrol, clothes, flowers and gifts, and the court heard the thefts occurred on dates between 2013 and 2019.

The report said O'Byrne had no previous convictions, admitted the thefts and apologised after her arrest. Detective Gavin Bowen agreed with defence counsel that she had stolen between €3,000 and €4,000 annually; the defence also presented a psychological report and said she had addressed the root cause of her offending and was living a reformed life.

Judge Nolan ordered O'Byrne to repay the money to the company within the next month. The proceedings were reported on 27 October 2022.
