Ruth Ennis received an 18-month prison sentence for assault causing harm at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Judge Martin Nolan backdated the term to 19 September 2021, the day of the assault. The proceedings were reported on 27 October 2022.

Ennis pleaded guilty to assault causing harm, property damage and producing a screwdriver. The prosecution said the September 2021 attack followed a dispute over a borrowed vacuum cleaner and involved a screwdriver and steel trim. Rebecca Smith BL said Ennis was intoxicated, remorseful and “absolutely off her head”. Judge Nolan noted her guilty pleas and apology, and told her to avoid her neighbour after release.
