Laura Kelleher, David Kelleher and Jack Kelleher secured €225,000 in settlements of their High Court health claims against a Cork wind-farm operator. On 25 February 2020, Ms Justice Leonie Reynolds was informed that the case had been settled. The siblings claimed noise, vibration and shadow flicker from Knockduff Wind Farm near their family home at Gowlane North, Donoughmore, caused illness and forced their family to move.
The settlements followed mediation and were made without an admission of liability. Green Energy Supply and director Michael Murnane denied negligence, denied that the wind farm caused the illnesses and said it was operated lawfully.
Laura was to receive €125,000, while David and Jack were each to receive €50,000. The medical evidence and liability remained contested, and Ms Justice Reynolds described the settlement offer as “good”.
