By Eimear Byrne

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Keith Brady pleaded not guilty to murder at the Central Criminal Court, reported on 13 November 2017. He also offered a guilty plea to manslaughter, which the State did not accept, after Martin Kivlehan died at a home in Holborn Street, Sligo. The trial concerned whether the death amounted to murder or manslaughter.

The prosecution said Mr Kivlehan died from two stab wounds to the neck. The court heard that the jury would have to decide whether Brady intended to kill or cause serious injury. The trial was due to continue before Justice Paul McDermott and a jury.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
