Keith Brady was found guilty of murdering Martin ‘Matt’ Kivlehan after a two-week trial at the Central Criminal Court. The jury reached its verdict in one hour and 25 minutes. Brady had pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter; it was his third trial for the offence, after an earlier jury could not agree and a second trial collapsed following an RTÉ Prime Time segment.

Mr Justice Alex Owens sentenced Brady to the mandatory term of life imprisonment. The sentence was backdated to 24 November 2016, when Brady first entered custody.
