Joseph Behan’s appeal against convictions for robbery, firearm offences and assault causing serious harm was dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 16 July 2021.
He had received a 15-year sentence for assault causing serious harm, with lesser concurrent sentences for the other offences, after the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court trial.
The appeal challenged the validity of a search warrant and the admission of CCTV footage from Edenmore Shopping Centre. The court found no substantial basis to exclude the footage and was not persuaded to uphold any ground of appeal.
