The Court of Appeal dismissed John McCormack’s appeal over properties it found were acquired with proceeds of crime, in a decision reported on 16 July 2021.
The appeal concerned three properties: Purcell Park and Cloontara West in Co Clare, and Claughan Fort in Co Limerick. The High Court had found they were funded by proceeds of crime and made interlocutory orders under the Proceeds of Crime Act 1996.
The Court of Appeal said no good reason had been advanced to show that the High Court judge erred in making the orders.
