Jamie Berry faces attempted murder retrial after acquittal quashed

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Jamie Berry’s acquittal on attempted murder charges was quashed and a retrial ordered by the Court of Appeal on 26 February 2024.

The charges arose from the shooting of a teenager on Eugene Street, Dublin 8, in February 2021. Berry had also faced charges of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and criminal damage; he had pleaded not guilty. The retrial was to be heard at the Central Criminal Court.

The appeal court ruled that the evidence at the end of the prosecution case required consideration by a jury. The retrial order does not establish that Berry committed the alleged offences.
